In 2006 the Nevada Women’s Fund’s board of directors made a strategic decision to prioritize and focus its grant making in order to help create more significant social change around key issues in our region and state. Based on the data published in the
Status of Women and Girls in Nevada report, the Fund opted to focus its grant making in three areas of identified need for Nevada’s women.
In 2007 grants focusing on issues relative to the aging of Nevada’s women, the physical and emotional health of Nevada’s women and the prevention of violence for women in Nevada were reviewed, and a total of $113, 600 was allocated to 18 organizations serving women in Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lander, Lyon, Pershing, Storey and Washoe counties.
