Since its founding in 1983, Nevada Women’s Fund has annually inducted a woman or women’s group into its prestigious Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes northern Nevada women whose achievements align with Nevada Women’s Fund's mission of empowering women to achievement. We are proud to announce that our 2025 Hall of Fame inductee is Dr. Frieda Hulka.
Dr. Hulka is a highly respected pediatric surgeon, trauma expert, and educator based in Reno, Nevada. She currently serves as the Chief of Pediatric Surgical Services and Pediatric Trauma Director at Renown Children’s Hospital, where she has made significant contributions to pediatric care since 1999. In addition, Dr. Hulka is a Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where she teaches future medical professionals in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Hulka earned her Medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1992 and completed her general surgery residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. She further advanced her expertise with specialized fellowships in pediatric surgery at the University of Louisville and trauma and critical care at Oregon Health Sciences University. Her career, spanning over two decades, is marked by her commitment to advancing pediatric trauma care and improving surgical practices.
Dr. Hulka’s connection with Nevada Women’s Fund is especially meaningful. She is a Nevada Women's Fund scholarship alumna (1990-1991), a Women of Achievement (2008), a former member of the Nevada Women's Fund Board of Directors (2009-2014), and a dedicated supporter and donor to our scholarship programs—a true example of paying it forward and empowering the next generation.

We invite you to join us for this year’s Salute to Women of Achievement luncheon where Dr. Hulka’s induction will be celebrated. This special event recognizes the determination, passion, and dedication of women in our community. Each year, 75 women are honored as “Women of Achievement,” a recognition that has become one of the region’s highest and most coveted accolades. These women come from diverse backgrounds and roles, all making meaningful contributions to their workplaces, families, and the Northern Nevada community.
